Moldavite is an olive green vitreous silica projectile glass formed by a meteorite impact in southern Germany (Czech Republic) that occurred about 15 million years ago. It is a type of tektite and a gemstone.
I bought this Moldavite piece from a reputable local Crystal shop in Florida, who imports directly from miners, approximately three years ago along. I've had this piece pretty much before Moldavite was popular and fakes started going around. This piece is approximately 2.8 grams and it comes inside the original little case the shop gave me.
Do not fall for the "certificate" mindset. Anyone can give you a "certificate of authenticity". There are ways to know if a piece is real. If you notice, this piece is more like a moss green shade and is opaque. This is how you can tell real vs fake moldavite. Fake moldavite tends to lean into the emerald green color and it's shiny. Additionally, when you try to scratch real moldavite, you'll notice it will NOT scratch. Feel free to reach out with any questions before purchasing.
